  1. Have done or can you please do a video on setting up a ‘new build’ house as apposed to setting up an existing home.

I would like to consider wiring & networking in the construction process

  2. Of all the things I got this year when it comes to everyday tech, it was undoubtedly my vionentus wallet, the airtag slot and the details often make me feel like I’m in Blade Runner.

  3. Now that the Echo Hub is out, would you change your ranking of the Alexa system? Seems like it adds a lot of capability for different types of devices.

  4. Home Automation looks great, however this is like the icing on the cake. Seems like few address the foundational back bone network. I’ve tried 3 devices now on HA and the 3 devices have failed. Standard network would be an ISP, router and I think a HA bridge?
I use a 1. bridged ISP router to the 2. Desktop computer (mini-pc tech is ready now, like RaPi5 for desktop use if you’re not a gamer) with a 3. hypervisor (Qemu/KVM) running virtual machine (VM) 4.1. Home Assistant and VM 4.2. router pfSense.

  5. I love how easy Homey Pro 2023 had been, but just some things here and there I’m not a fan with overall. One of them, is the dashboard, not much customization at all. I’m almost wanting a mix of Home Assistant dashboard, with Homey Pro flows. I really like how easy the Homey Pro flows are for setting up. I’m thinking might just have all my devices using Homey Pro for flows, but Home Assistant for the dash. I don’t know yet though. Do you know if there is a way to setup Home Assistant automations to be like the drag and drop of Home Pro Flows?

  6. Just moved into our new home that we bought and step by step I am building our smart home. I also work with sensors and conditions.

  7. Would you still go with the water leak sensors from aeotec?
Im wanting to start my smart home with this aspect but having hard time figuring out what works or still in business, ideally compatible water valve shutoff

  8. Bonjour, I wonder if you could show and explain, how did you connect your withings bed sensor to HA ? I’m not interested in the medical stuff but just the presence. Tks.

  9. Step 0 is probably the hardest one of them all. The step I’m talking about is actually getting a house whether it be in the US in Europe or in Asia.

  10. Hi there I’m interested in Smart home features I just bought a house and I got it back to the studs so I wanna run all the cat 6 wires I don’t know what else to do

  11. The biggest fear I have about automation in the home, is if anything should happen to me, like long term injury or even worse like death, how does my family take over the home…I mean as a man we Must!! Think about our family needs and that also means what will they do if I’m no longer here, this is the only thing that stops me as I cannot design a system around that possible eventuality…. Any ideas

  13. Hello I’m curious, I am trying to set up a handful of cameras inside my one bedroom apartment, running an experiment, I do not want Wireless, I want everything fully analog tethered to motion sensors, I want the feed to go to one hard drive that I can just access the footage by plugging in that hard drive to my laptop and watch it through VLC player, I want no other bells and whistles outside of the obvious audio, Does anyone have any recommendations for a possible bulk purchase to achieve this? I’m imagining it would be a total of about five cameras only, but again I want them completely in sync at all times with zero Wi-Fi or Bluetooth nonsense, no interface outside of saving the footage to a hard drive then I will then use my laptop as a screen too pick and choose what I view, doable?

  14. I totally agree that voice commands are just not great as the only way to control things. I think it takes some time and then some trial and error to figure out what you actually want and need your smart home to do. To that end, I like lighting and security as my first priorities. Thanks for the video.

  15. I’m surprised you didn’t say anything about how slow Alexa’s app is to use. Takes 20 seconds for a checkbox to show up when assigning devices to rooms. That’s "simple" but not easy :p

  16. Too early in the tech cycle. I’ll come back in 10 years when it’s as easy as installing a light bulb

  17. Hey Reed, Love your videos. I have a question. I’m having trouble viewing my live feed from a Eufy camera on the Google Home app on iOS. I can pair it together but can’t see the feed from it. Thanks

  18. Google Home Assistant has its limitation and flaws. But my smart wiring systtem supports it and with just the cheap Nest hub, I control the entire system by voice, i.e. shutters, lights, recuperation etc. I recently discovered that thanks to Matter GHA can finally work with sensors as automation triggers. So my motion sensors activate whatever I want. And that is a game changer, IMO.

  19. You mentioned you use the Sonoff S31 Zigbee smart plugs, have you ever had issues with them seemingly congesting your zigbee network? I had a terribly looking network graph, only after I removed most of these routers did my network seem to stabilize.

  20. I dont like kasa at all, if their app goes down, i cant turn off my lights, have to do it manually, WOULD NOT recommend kasa

  21. Nem semmi!! Környezetvédelem címszónál a kínai értemlező kézi szótárban: “Lefordíthatatlan külföldi kifejezés” (irónia)

  22. Smart home ⁉️ what 💩‼️ For decades without electronic appliances, that lasted at least 20 years ‼️ If you were cold you walked to the house thermostat and turned up the heat ‼️ freaking people are so lazy today ‼️
And the electric car, you can put where the sun don’t shine. And sun , solar panels are 💩‼️ There’s other options that are much better ‼️ If corporate and government are telling you that it’s ok , IT’S NOT ‼️ BTW ‘ they’ are telling you that your garden is not healthy for the planet ‼️ If you believe in any of these lies , I have a bridge that has a lot of traffic going over it for sale ‼️ I will take gold and silver and I will pick the place you can purchase it ‼️😂🤣
