I have no use for streaming due to a lack of high-speed Internet access and poor picture quality. I use a 4k Blu-ray player for my home theater with a computer and a refurbished high-end cassette deck. I get the quality and the selection that I want with the features that I want!
Panasonic 820 is such a great 4k bluray player. Must have in a home theater setup 💯
i wanted Apple tv and Apple music, Amazon music cuz I would like to listen to dolby atmos, turn on the TV it come with Android TV and Chromecast haha I don’t need no wires or streaming device.
Great video! Thanks for the content.
Physical media will Never die off. How long has DVDs been going for???
Anyway that’s how the movie companies make most of their money from, not from streaming.
But there will never be 8K discs.
A lot packed into this one. Nice work.
I use streaming services and blue ray as well as 4k movies.Have a Panasonic 4k player and I find the first thing streaming services cut is the quality in audio.
You really notice this if you watch both movies back to back streaming and blue ray.
I find it odd that so many people who talk about connecting a streaming box(ROKU, ATV4k,etc..) says that the box should be connected to the TV first and connect the TV to the AVR second. Is there a good reason for this? I would never do that. I connect all sources to the AVR/processor first and only one HDMI cable to the TV as the video only feed. I really wish I could get a TV without the streaming app processor that is a 100% great display without having to get a second mortgage.
As far as streaming movies VS Blu-Ray or 4k Ultras HD – yeah I’m going for the disk every time I can. I have a couple dozen movies that I have purchased via VUDU and VUDU doesn’t provide me with the Atmos audio I have paid for while Netflix, Disney+ and Apple TV+ does. Anyone else have this issue with VUDU? VUDU refuses to solve this problem or do they not stream Dolby Atmos to anyone?
All the best and enjoy your movies everybody!
Hi there what Technics turntable model is equivalent to a Rega P6? That is what Technics turntable is an upgrade from my 23 year old Linn Basik?
Apple 4K TV all the way. Own 2. Smooth operation always, UI is great, I’m considering getting into the Apple ecosystem more. Own the Shield TV, and its beginning to show its age in comparison to Apple as far as response speed, UI, etc. Roku and Amazon are garbage, as well as the TV option. Constant crashes, not all apps available, unwieldy UI, etc. BR player or game systems are a good option with some caveats. This opinion is from 2 years experience.
Blu-ray and 4K Blu-ray are absolutely the best options, and should really be the default.
Video quality is greatly superior to even the best streaming. Audio goes without saying. But there at two major benefits beyond quality:
1. Once you own the disc, no one will take it away. Even when people have purchased a movie from a streaming service, the services have removed the movies people purchased. Recently Sony did this.
2. Many times, buying a 4K movie also includes a second disc with the regular 1080P Blu-ray, and includes a digital code to own it on a streaming site. It is the best value for money, without question.
People who are into home theater tell me that I shouldn’t use my TV apps for streaming and that a dedicated streaming device will deliver increased picture quality and better sound. But based on this video, that doesn’t seem to be the case. I have a 5.1 setup using a Denon X2800h. My TV is a Sony from 2018 that doesn’t offer the Dolby Digital Plus option shown in the video. I am thinking of upgrading to an OLED TV, would I be better off doing that in the next year rather than investing in a streaming device? Or would a dedicated streaming device always deliver better results compared to native TV streaming apps? Thanks!
Love k-scape
I have the Roku Ultra. One thing I noticed. It forced DV on everything. Including SD programs. Does not separate the two.
I got rid of my Nvidia Shield TV after the remote became unresponsive and then a few months later it wouldn’t go past the logo screen. The sad part is that one of those occasions I was showing off my theater to someone else, ugh!! Now I own an Apple TV and so far so good.
I use a HTPC…. I use it for not only Plex, but also Foobar2000 for music playback via FLAC through an external DAC. And it can stream anything..
Great video!
Nvidia is what I use.
I have a couple of Roku Ultras and the latest version of AppleTV. Neither support MVC 3D. Neither does the Nvidia Shield. So, I bought a NAS, four 20TB drives and ripped all of my Blu-rays, 4K BDs and 3D BDs. And for my clients? Zidoo Z9X Pro. Supports all HDR formats, Dolby Vision, 3D, Atmos, DTS-X, etc. I absolutely love it and added a second Z9X Pro in another room.
Another great video by audio advice. You guys are great. I would love to get into Kalidescape I really would but boy it’s just so so expensive. I really hope their prices come down. But it definitely is a fantastic platform to get into.
