I Tried a Bunch of USB-C Accessories for the iPhone 15 Pro
With this USB type-c port let’s try some accessories you might now be interested in for your iphone. Like external SSDs. Everyone hates running out of space on their iphone when taking pictures, and some of us don’t want to spend so much money on storage on a phone that we’ll outgrow in 3 or so years. So with an external SSD like this samsung T7 or Synology BeeDrive you can get a ton of storage without paying $500 for a TB of space. And they can be used with your ipad, mac, android, and PC too. You can offload anything you have in the “files” app on your iphone to an external drive. And if you want to send photos or videos to your external drive, just open the photos app, select the items, press the share button, then save to files and choose your external drive. Easy. External drives can also be used as a saving location for videos you take from the iphone 15 Pro or Pro Max when plugged in, which frees up some space on your phone, if you were planning to just offload the footage onto your computer anyway to edit it. Overall, I like the convenience that external ssds provide, because they’re not too big but give me space back on my iphone, ipad and Mac.

Okay. So during the Apple event they really liked highlighting the gaming potential of the iphone. They sell a lightning version for older iphones or a usb-c version for every other phone. The USB-C version supports the iphone 15 series, has the courage to add back the headphone jack and a usb-c port for passthrough charging. I can confirm all of the functionality works fine. And oh god. I’m playing this game again. Help me. The nice thing about the backbone one is that you can use it with your windows pc, mac, android tablet, or ipad by connecting to them through the usb-c port. So the backbone has been a great laying in-bed hand held controller for when I want to play ios games or remote play into a PS5. It also makes a great portable game controller for travel too.
I mentioned earlier that the usb-c port on the iphone supports doing a lot of things, and I highly recommend you get a usb-c hub of some kind that supports all the functions you need. The port can handle video, audio, charging, and data. So having something like this usb-c hub that has all those features in one, is really nice, because you can use it with your computer and tablet too. So I can plug my iphone into this, and into an hdmi cable, and have all of my screen mirrored to the monitor or TV. I can plug in SD cards and move photos and videos on or off my phone and plug in any other accessories I need and still charge it in the process too. It’s a nice little emergency tech item that works for all your devices.
Then there are a ton of magsafe accessories that can be used for all iphones starting with the 12. There are a ton of these that add a bunch of cool functionality to your iphone. To save you some time, and not repeat myself, I’ve made a video talking about all of those already. So if you’re interested in that check out the link above.
iPhones with USB-C support charging wireless earbuds and smartwatches with a usb-c cable. As if your phone was the battery bank. And I’m happy that this works for both apple and non-apple products. Airpods and Airpods pro were updated with USB-C and work seamlessly if you own a bunch of apple products. I can use mine without having to touch any settings between my Macbook pro, mac studio, iphone, and ipad. But the moment you want to use them with other devices, pairing them and changing settings can be a pain. So if you have an iphone but not a lot of other apple products, I’d look at wireless earbuds with usb-c ports that have multipoint capabilities. Like the Sony WF-1000XM5s. Multipoint enable these to pair to multiple devices and switch between them. I really like the WF-1000XM5s because you get a ton of customizability in Sony’s headphones app, and feature for feature, spec for spec, these Sony’s match up to the Airpods Pro really really well. But if you’re primarily using apple products. Airpods are the way to go.
I’m upgrading from the regular 11 to the 15 Pro if they think its good, its a $200 credit most likely to my Apple card since I put that as the payment method. I’m buying it outright and unlocked since I’m on prepaid. Both my 11 and the 15 Pro are 128 GB. I have a USB male to female adaptor and 2 thumbdrives both in 32GB and a bunch of SD cards and at least 1 adaptor. I have at least 2 SD cards in 64 GB. As far as ICloud, right now I have it in 50GB and of course, an adaptor to read hard drives to get my IPhone pictures and videos off my IPhone and shockingly, I still use Itunes ot backup my phone.
Seems like I’m watching a review on an old Galaxy with type c capabilities. Samsungs been doing all this for years.
I disagree about Thunderbolt cables. Yes they are more expensive (tip, buy budget TB cables) but their spec is their spec and you know what you’re getting. Many USB-C cables are sold with misleading information of what they’re capable of, and many hide details about their specs on their product pages
Anybody else having trouble getting usb c splitter (aux and power) to work on iPhone? It works no problem on my iPad Pro.
i dont buy 3rd party accessories i buy everything from apple
You know what would be a great invention a SSD with MagSafe so that way we don’t have tape it on
i m going to buy iphone 15promax. so would like to is it safe to use green 65w nexode adapter for charging or I shall only use apple adapter ?
What a shock usb c devices work on a usb port. Click bait video.
the Backbone subscription is garbage. I can just get a clip for my phone like you mentioned
keyboard and mouse gaming on iphone?
Thank you EU!
Thanks.Good info. I’m going to get the Anker 735 charger. I’d like a longer cord than what came with the 15 Pro. What cord do you recommend?
I hate people saying that using one cable is a “benefit”
I don’t want to charge each device one by one 😂
Does USB-C speakphone work with it? I need wired speakerphone for iphone (not Bluetooth).
even iphone is going android bwahahahahahahhahahah
Ok so what cable actually works in full capacity. That’s all that matters and it was never mentioned from your testing!
Which usbc cable would you recommend for the iPhone 15 pro?
Half my usb c cables wouldn’t stay in the iphone 15 pro max i bought and car play would keep disconnecting constantly. I returned mine because i didnt feel like even trying. The port was either loose or they want the apple cable being used.
Totally disagree with your recommendation of staying away from thunderbolt 3/4 cables. Thunderbolt 4 designation is the easiest way to know you are getting every feature in the cable you need to maximize your investment in the interface. It automatically support usb4 and everything below it, and will hel😊 you get the most out of your Mac. The Only down side is the cost. I get thunderbolt 4 for data cables and much cheaper usbc cables for charging where high speed charging is not required.
Apple didn´t took the opportunity to switch to USB-C, they were forced to. Otherwise they would have left Lightning for a free more years.
Thank you EU 😀
Apple should had make usb type c only work from apple, any other adapter would not work on iphone
I don’t get the argument about buying new cables. The whole reason of the move is to standardize it and I don’t expect there are many people out there that don’t already have multiple usb c cables because of other devices. I’m glad it happened because I now only need one type of charging cable when I travel.
Does the backbone fit well with the 15 Pro Max cameras?
i don’t like the fact that you need a subscription AGAIN!!
the way you expand the use of UsB to make it look like the iphone made a new leap forward 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I know this sounds silly because it’s available of course, but I can’t wait to get an iPhone with USB-C but it’s gonna be a few more years because I got the iPhone 14 pro on launch day, and the purple is my all time favorite, can’t part with it!
The best thing today was just grabbing a random tv that had hdmi to usb c and just hooked it up to watch this video😭😭
Hi. I have an iPhone 15 pro and I’m wondering how to connect it to a Windows desktop computer via USB A. There is no dedicated Apple cable and Thunderbold 4 also has a small USB C input
So I’m still on IPhone 8. I would rather get 14 pro refurbished to save money and I really just want the better camera. If I went with 15 pro sounds like I can still use my older external mics but have to get the USB C adapter? Is that right? Also in other videos I saw a lot of comments people saying the volume of headphones was low? Is that true? I’m just researching until I have to get a new phone.
I need help.🙏 I’ve had an iPhone 15 Plus for a week now & the only thing that’s worked to charge it is a foot-long cable that came with my cheap earbuds, plugged into a power bar. I bought an adapter from usb c to usb a so I could plug in the apple cable into the power bar, but it doesn’t charge. I bought a cheap 10’ usb c to usb a cable to plug in the power bar, that doesn’t charge. So I’m stuck with just a 1 foot cable. Not ideal.
I didn’t know that I needed to be careful about the specs of the cable that I bought. What do I need to look for? I need a 10’ cable just for charging. Then, do I also need certain specs on the adapter too? I need one to plug into my car for music & charging.
I know I’m a little behind on my tech knowledge but I’m a quick learner!😁 Any help you could give, seriously, would be really appreciated. I’m looking all over the place for the info and I can’t find anything referencing required specs. I’m only seeing 20W if I want extra fast charging. 🤷🏻♀️
i cannot get my usbc capture card to use my iphone as a monitor, as i did on my S22
Watching these usb-c iPhone related videos is like watching children on their first day of going outside their homes and discovering things that didn’t exist in their homes. It’s so nice seeing them grow up and adapt to things around them that they didn’t know existed.
¿Te preguntas porque no hizo apple el usb-c?, da las gracias a Europa, que les ha obligado.
I have de iPhone 15 pro and I’m trying to use Hyperx Duocast Mic in it, but it does not recognize it as a Mic. Only as Headphones
Now you can turn it into a mini pc now that you can connect a usb-c hub. iPads are going to take a hit.
It’s a great thing that iPhone switch to type c because now i can transfer all pictures and vids to any ssd or hard disk
Kudos to the UE Union for forcing usb-c. Next up, they need to force Apple to make imessages compatible with android.
I feel so bad for apple users. This is really hard for them 😢
My android phone doesn’t have USB-C
I made a new account and forgot the name of your channel, took me a while to find you again dude!

Not sure if you reply to comments or not. I was wondering if you have managed to find a USB-C Hub that supports Pass Through CarPlay. I have wired CarPlay in my 2018 Mazda 3 and have been looking for this for years. Why? Well I store a lot of my music in Hi-Res FLAC on a Micro-SD Card (1TB / 10,000 songs). but of course I have to plug it into the USB-C port on the phone which means I can’t charge it nor use the card reader. I also use a USB-C to 3.5mm for much better sound via my Aux connector in the card. The only compromise I have found so far is a USB Wireless CarPlay adapter which I can plug into the car’s USB port and then the hub into the phone to connect SD Card USB-C to 3.5mm adapter & Charging. But the wireless USB CarPlay adapter is much less responsive than the wired CarPlay and also causes issues sometimes where I have to unplug it for awhile or restart the card Infotainment computer. I have tried 4 or 5 different Wireless CarPlay adapters and they all suffer from this to some degree or other. Thanks in advance for your reply.
Carl.
The iPhone 15 pro is my first iPhone. My first Apple product was a 5th gen iPod touch then I got an M1 iPad Pro then an Apple TV.
I have thunderbolt devices, I don’t want to have to worry if I’m grabbing the right USB-C cable, so I’d rather spend a little extra to make sure all my cables are TB3/4 and can do at least 100W
While android got 120 w charging type c devices Apple users are boasting about type c as if it is a new discovery. 😂
With the USB-C hubs, ensure they have a power passthrough. Not all of them do, and then the hub and peripherals will just drain your phone battery like crazy.
The Gamesir X2 does not seem to work with the iphone 15 pro, do you know why that is? Is the controller like hard encoded to just android devices or something? Any response is appreciated
Thanks EU 🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤, and thanks for the video!
i try to connect it using the one i use for my s23 ultra to the tv but it shows the dynamic island, how do you get yours to not show up?
