  1. Thank you for this excellent review. I’m a firm believer in you get what you pay for. Wherever possible and within reason of course, I will pay more for something of higher quality that will last longer.

  2. The problem with folding solar pannels is that they can only be folded/unfolded so many times before they fall apart. For long term use, if you have a vehicle or building you can mount it on, having a solid, conventional solar panel seems to be the way to go. Sure, it’s not as compact or portable, but it’ll gather power more quickly than either of these options and it won’t fall apart from regular use like the folding solar panels do.

  3. I have never owned one but looked into it a while back and all of them on Amazon seemed to have reviews claiming they didn’t charge in the sun. I suppose 5.5 watt is better than 1.5 watt.

  4. I wish I had known about Survival Frog before I had bought 2 4Patriots, which I found the same result as you said.

  5. Lol. Y’all need help. The solar panel on the 4patriots is to help hold it’s charge while charging devices. (Charges it’s self while charging a phone). Idk if a 8,000mah or 10,000mah in the vid cuz he didn’t say. But either way the quad pro is 6,500mah for $70? Lol. Y’all need Jesus!! I got a 50,000mah for $15.

  6. This video of your phone charger comparison just showed up, today, in my Youtube stream. It was very helpful! I had seen the sale prices of 4Patriots charger but hadn’t purchased them. You made lots of good points and I made sure to check out other reviews of the Survival Frog charger. I ended up ordering one today along with a self defense pack consisting of pepper spray, a personal alarm and a stun gun (in a carrying pouch) plus and a total of 4 heat reflecting blankets to stash in my car. Thanks for taking the time to share your findings.

  7. The patriots is the same as powerworks chargers with the solar doesn’t work unless you got twenty of the things and 4 or 5 will charge your phone.

  8. I agree! We bought 4 of those "For Patriots" ones, because the 4 pack offered the best price. It’s a great battery pack but the solar charging capability is useless and stupid. I did feel bad to find out that it won’t charge my Samsung Tablet. You can plug the tablet in just fine, just like a phone, but it just doesn’t do anything. I also think the triple function flashlight is stupid. There should be 2 switches, or 2 lights, or something. Who will ever need the emergency features? And yet, if you want the simple flashlight you have to cycle through the emergency functions. I told 4 Patriots all of this and I hope they learned! I won’t be buying anything from them.

  9. The small ones would be more of an emergency backup. Keep it on your window sill, and when the power goes out you know it will be charged and ready. The Survival frog one is good for daily use.

  10. Thank you Bill, I wondered what was the easiest for amateur Nomads or for going camping. Hopefully they will get the message here in Greece.

  11. Great advice. Been thinking about this unit. I don’t charge my phone at airports for two reasons. First is that when you look at your plug there are four connections. Two are for electricity and the other two are for data transfer. In other words when you plug into an airport power you give them direct access to your device. Second reason is I’m afraid of flying and I don’t go to airports

  12. I don’t know if they improved it, but the 4patriots worked really well for me and charged well in the sun. The airport lost my luggage in Greece and I had the charger but no European adapters. Plus stores were closed when we arrived at Naxos. I placed it in the window and I was able to charge my phone the next morning

  13. Thanks you saved me $24 because I was wanting to buy the four patriot and I looked up information and found your video. So it looks like I’m up for the survival frog.

  14. you can get a usb 30 watt folding solar panel for 50$ puts out the full 12 watts and use a separate power bank

  15. The one thing people fail to notice is the power output of these devices. With newer phones we need "more" power output then most of these "back up" batteries provide.
Even with a full charge some of them will take well over an hour to charge your newer/larger phones.
I’m really surprised that you do not have some sort of a solar system even a small one for your house or RV. I would think the "prepper" in you would want to have a way to charge everything including your computer to at least watch videos when the power goes out.

  16. Thank you Bill. I have been thinking of getting something like that and it’s good to know about the slow solar charging for the one brand.

  17. I was aware of their battery bank, but I had no idea they made such a slick little Lantern flashlight combo. Thanks for the video!

  18. Thanks, Bill. 4Patriots and Patriot Supply market their chargers continuously. I’m so glad I watched this before I bought one. Touché. 👍🏼

  19. Ha this is so cool! We just discovered Survival Frog a few weeks ago and we’ve already ordered a few things from them. We’re gonna do some reviews real soon. Awesome products and a great company to deal with!!

We did the same thing – ordering that first charger you showed and having terrible luck with it. At first, I thought Jara just wasn’t using it correctly 😅 but I tried it, and still no luck! Definitely gonna go with the one from Survival Frog! 🐸

  20. I’ve had the same problem with my 4Patriots solar charger. Set it out in the sun and it never charged at all. Good only as a small battery backup. Lately I’ve been pretty disappointed with 4Patriots. Twice I’ve ordered their 30 day emergency food supply at $197 up front. First one took almost three months to arrive after several email follow ups. Still waiting on my current order. Going to look for another supplier going forward.

  21. Sorry chargworx solar battery bank great battery pack. But crap in solar but definitely want the survival frog solar bank

  22. Update 7/3/2021 I received the Survival Frog phone chargers today. They both came almost fully charged. I set my wife’s up and then mine. Right now I am charging my phone and at he same time my solar cells are charging the charger. Amazing, Thank you Bill.

  23. Appreciate this video! Thank you for saving me from buying a lacking product and sending me in the direction of a good one.

  24. thank you. I bought one of the 4 patriots solar and had the same thing happen it would not charge from solar. thank you was not sure if I was doing something wrong. now I know its just a bad product.
